If you’re a Dave Ramsey follower, you may not have credit cards; you may have cut them up ages ago. (And yes, that’s what I should do, but I just can’t bear to until I have a six-month emergency fund in place.) But if you’re like me, you’ve kept your credit cards but really don’t need them in your wallet for regular expenses, which you (should) use cash or your debit card for.
What I Did
I put all of my unused credit cards–as I’ve already said, I use my American Express card and pay it off each month–in an envelope in a page protector in a three-ring binder in our waterproof, fire-resistant safe.
Put your (unused?) credit cards with the rest of your important documents in a safe location such as a house safe or a safe deposit box. That way, you won’t have to worry about their being stolen–and maybe you won’t use them as much.
How Did You Do?
Did you put away your credit cards? Or did you cut up all of your plastic? Let me hear from you in the comments!
